The OAT™ Method

– Building Habits, Structures and Procedures that support you.

You can not change that which you cannot see or are unaware of.

The OAT™ Method is a simple and powerful method to both raise your awareness and bring about the change you desire through aligned action.

It can be used in a plethora of ways:

  • Discovering what underlying current beliefs, patterns or habits are informing and shaping the current reality of your life.
  • Implementing new beliefs, patterns and habits while tracking the effectiveness of your effort.
  • Elevating the quality of your experience of life whether it be privately, personally or professionally.
  • Strengthening your intuitive senses; The Clair Senses described in this article.

The OAT™ Method

OAT™ stands for:

  • Observe
  • Asses
  • Test & tweak

Enabling you to easily add a scientific approach to your spirituality which in turn can amplify your growth and expansion.

Observe

Three key points:

  1. Make your observations conscious.
  2. Track them.
  3. Zero judgement.

1 | Conscious Observation

Best way is through setting an alarm on your phone to go off 5 times a day, observe where you’re at with what you’re observing and jotting down a quick note or a marking before continuing with your day.

Other ways could be to do it in combination with another daily routine f.i. when you’re brushing your teeth, combing your hair or making coffee. You could also add a post-it note on your fridge, however we quickly get used to things like that so if that’s what you choose I recommend moving the post-it note from week to week so that it keeps “disturbing” your field reminding you of why it’s there.

2 | Track them

Here’s different ways to track your observations:

  • Note app on your phone.
  • Physically in a notebook.
  • Spreadsheet on your computer.
  • Habittracker whether as physical sheets or an app.

3 | Zero Judgement

We’re usually our own worst enemies and it’s SO easy to start judging ourselves stunting us in our progress before we’ve even gotten started.

So during your phase of observation be the silent observer and leave judgement out of the equation knowing that you’ll have plenty of opportunity for this in the assessment phase.

Assess

When assessing, be open to any direction you might be taken.

Allow both your mind and heart to process and assess your observations and the information you’ve been receiving, objectively.

Be the curious detective;

  • You might notice specific rhythms or patterns.
  • There might specific triggers such as a particular event, behaviour or person.
  • You might simply have a sense about something – explore that.
  • Other things that seem particular or relevant.

 

Note | It is SUPER easy to disregard your own observations and assessment. That’s why repeating OAT™ is crucial. Over time the evidence of your findings simply become to obvious to be disregarded.

Test & Tweak

Aligned action is key when testing or tweaking because elevation of your experienced life quality is ultimately the goal of OAT.

We tend to think that we need big, bold changes when in truth even the slightest changes has a compounding effect over time.

  • 10 minutes of meditation 3 times a week ends up being 2 hrs. a month and 24 hrs. in a year.
  • Writing 15 minutes every weekday is 1hr. 15min every week and 5 hrs a month.

Real life examples from sessions with clients:

#1 | One client was spending more than 2 hrs. on in-take of new clients.

I suggested implementing an in-take form full of the questions she’d normally be asking during the initial consult.

This brought the initial consult from 2 hrs. to about 15 min. That is an hour and 5 minutes to be spent on billable hours, with family or whatever else they desired.

#2 | My client struggled sharing themselves and work on social media and would spend lots of both time but more importantly mental energy hyping themselves up to post many times a week.

We outlined a Social Media strategy that involved planning and scheduling once a month. This:

a) Stopped the constantly draining habit of worrying. 

b) Brought deep relief and gave tremendously peace of mind.

#3 | Over a few sessions I noticed my clients, owners of physical stores, kept bringing seemingly the same things up in connection with an employee yet the sort of disregarded it.

I asked them to start doing tiny  incident reports. Jotting down:

  • When.
  • What.
  • Who.

 

Within a very short amount of time it was painstakingly clear that their employee was gaslighting them, stinking up the business with their behaviour and costing them money.

Personally…

I’ve used a variation of The OAT™ Method in a gazillion different ways.

The first two times I used it was in combination with flipping my mindset from fear to love.

The first was setting a gentle alarm to go off randomly 5 times a day. Whenever the alarm went off I’d simply say “I choose Love” and then continue my day.

The second was uncovering whether my thoughts were based in fear or love. Again I’d have a gentle alarm go off 5 times a day. Whenever the alarm chimed I take note of my current thoughts and mark a fear or love column in a notebook.

Within a week I was pretty surprised to discover that I was predominantly based in fear.

Something which I was then able do something about that is; assess, tweak and change.
